This recent update to the European user agreement from Disney+ signals a notable shift in how promotional content is integrated across all subscription plans. Subscribers in Europe were informed of these changes via email, which explained that promotional materials may now be featured before or after watching a movie or show, as well as within associated channels and special events.

The notification detailed that regardless of the subscription tier, service plans could include a variety of promotional content. The clarified terms specify that:

  • Promotional segments may accompany content before and after playback.
  • Sponsorship messages can be integrated in related channels or during special live events.
  • Advertisements may appear Here's a rewritten version that retains the original context: "regarding the content provided by external service providers".

This modification does not indicate that advertisements will disrupt the viewing experience during the actual streaming of content. However, it does relax earlier restrictions even for the highest tier subscriptions, which until now promised an uninterrupted viewing session.

The basic subscription option, priced at approximately $11.99 per month, has always featured promotional segments. The premium plan, costing around $18.99 per month or $189.99 annually, previously offered a promise of an ad-free experience during playback but may now include content just before or after the streaming activity.

Importantly, the family-oriented viewing mode remains unaffected by these changes, ensuring that profiles set to a child-friendly setting will not receive any promotional materials. The full impact of these updates on the frequency and type of advertising across the different plans is yet to be determined.

This development coincides with the streaming service's price adjustments that took effect in October 2025 and comes ahead of the release lineup for September 2026.
